Procedural Materials Experiment - Potted Succulent

For this experiment, I modified an existing potted plant asset in Maya before importing into Houdini. I used a subdivide node in Houdini to smooth the edges and separated the elements of the model before adding materials. Modeling Shot:

Materials - RS Shader Nodes: In order to achieve the grime and moss on my reference image, I used a MaxonNoise node combined with a RS Ramp node to achieve the look. I then used another RS Ramp node to add a dirty brown look near the base of the vase.


For the succulent leaves, I applied sheen and SSS to give texture. I used a RS Ramp node to achieve the brownish green tips of the leaves, and I used a MaxonNoise node to create a weight mask for the sheen.
