Interdimensional Subway - Senior Studio Winter 2023

Updated: Mar 29, 2023

Week 10

After a whole week of hard work sequencing, rendering and editing- here is my final result of the Interdimensional Subway Project!

Week 9

Further refinement of my transitions between environments through a portal effect

I've also done a complete overhaul of my UVs and textures on the Subway car: And I'm continuing to detail my subway station environment:

Week 8

In this version, I have added an intro sequence that takes place from a first person perspective. I have also added 2 additional environments.

Week 7

Here is a portal effect I created using a feedback loop working in the UE5 sequencer.

Week 4

Week 3

This week I have begun development on the environments and further detailing of the Subway interior. Here are the most recent version of my ocean environment and my desert environment:

Using Substance 3D Painter, I am decorating the walls of my Subway interior with custom textures and decals. There are still some issues with the UVs that I will need to resolve in the coming weeks.

Here are a few of the designs that I will be incorporating into the Subway interior:

Version 1 of the desert environment:

Week 2

Below is my updated previsualization for the Interdimensional Subway. I plan to do at least 3 different variations of the environment, and hope to add more if time allows it. The climax of the video will end with the "hyper speed" variation. In the final version, my scenes will be populated with interdimensional characters and the environments and models will be much more complex and polished.

The model nears completion and is ready for shading/texturing. I imported this model into Unreal Engine 5 for experimentation and previsualization.

This week, I have started modeling the Subway car interior. The blueprint of a London Underground 1996 Stock car serves as a rough base and reference for the shape of the model. Further detailing is required, but I am ready to move onto shading the model and creating my final pre-visualization.

Week 1

Over the course of 10 weeks, I will be creating and finalizing the environment of the concept that I had developed in the Spring of 2022- the Interdimensional Subway system:

To begin I must first begin modelling the Subway car in high detail, because I want the viewer to feel as immersed as possible. I will model using Maya 2022 with this blueprint as a reference. Since I never intend the viewer to see the outside of the vehicle, there will be rudimentary construction. As far as the interior, I will be drawing reference from these photographs of real Subway cars.
