I have always been drawn towards the chaotic and unknown. I am also a fanatic for liminal spaces and the uncanny. In my opinion, there is a certain sense of uncertainty and mystery that comes with stepping on a subway car. You are surrounded by strangers all with a common goal- transport to and from a destination. The route is predetermined, there is no way to control where the subway car goes or where it stops. You can only decide when to get on, and when to get off. One could even describe the subway as a "world between worlds." Now what if the subway could take you anywhere you could possibly imagine with no bounds to reality? How long would it take for you to find your destination? I want to develop a concept such as this. With the power of visual effects, I can bring such an idea like this to life.
"There is no limit to where you can go with the Inter-dimensional Subway System, the destination of your wildest dreams awaits you! (The Inter-dimensional Subway System is not responsible for any physical or psychological trauma that may occur during use.)"
Below is a proof of concept for the Inter-dimensional Subway System, and what it might look like walking through one of its infinite subway cars.
Modeled and rendered in Blender.
The passengers of the subway can come in any shape, size, or form. Expect the unexpected!
Below is a proof of concept sketch for one of the passengers that you may find on the Inter-dimensional Subway System. As you can see, he is clearly not of this world, sporting a helix snail shell for a head or mask.
Below are three mockup images created in Photoshop that serve as concept art for the Inter-Dimensional Subway System: A Subway car in an underwater setting, with our mysterious passenger:
